West Coast, Zekreet & Film City

West is where Qatar gets strange in a good way. Past Dukhan the land flattens and the limestone starts — wind-cut mushroom formations standing on the plain like something left behind. Then Film City: a full mock village built for a production, abandoned, and now just sitting there in the desert with nobody in it. We finish at Zekreet beach, where Richard Serra planted four steel plates in a line across the desert. Best done late so you get the light on the way back.
